Roald Dahl is one of the most frequently mentioned authors in whazzap group BBI, every time there’s a sale at Gramedia, Books & Beyond or Periplus, the question “is there any Dahl’s book on sale?” always appear. I who never read Dahl’s book just follow the conversation without being able to understand why they really like the books. What is so interesting about his books? Thanks to Ferina who gave me this book. And so I begin having a journey with the world’s number one storyteller.

Fantastic Mr. Fox was a story about Mr. Fox and three farmers named Boggis, Bunce and Bean. To feed his family, Mr. Fox always steal food from them, chicken from Boggis, Duck or Goose from Bunce and Turkey from Bean. The farmers were planning to catch Mr. Fox but never succeeded because Mr. Fox was too clever for them, until one day, their anger became unbearable and they started digging the hole where the Fox lives. The Farmers told all people to surround the whole place with a gun ready to fire if they see Mr. Fox.  Far below the ground, Mr. Fox and his family is getting weaker because they began to starve, but at this point, a brilliant idea from Mr. Fox appeared to save his family and all other animals near them. Mr. Fox instructed them to dig..dig and dig to a place that was never imagined by them or never expected by Boggis, Bunce and Bean.

I like this book, it's simple and entertaining, a pretty good one for bedtime story. Dahl’s was a great storyteller and I enjoy this book very much, a kind of book that you can reread every time you need a simple story. The story is suitable for all ages and what Dahl wants to tell is

"That we need to have an unbeatable spirit when we face anything in life. Keep our spirit and try to think positively and clean sometime will help to not only face the problem but also to find unexpected blessing, depends to our point of view. Last but not least, when we have abundant blessing, do not forget others."

But keep in mind, for children; they need guidance to read this book for the first time. Even though the book is about positive spirit and attitude, it also attached to something negative like stealing. I know Dahl was not focus on it but it is still there.

That was my first experience reading Roald Dahl’s book and now I’m going to hunt for Roald Dahl’s books with BBI. Ahhh..yess this is the beauty of joining this group, I read many new books that I never knew before.
